2 MB MEMEX DATA SHUTTLE MXDS2, HOLDS UP TO 62 FILES, TOTAL STORAGE SPACE OF 2MB. The Memex Data Shuttle (MxDS1 & MxDS2) are hand held memory/data shuttles for the shop floor. They are ideal for applications where cables or standard DNC solutions are impractical or impossible. Memex Data Shuttles use a built-in RS232 port to transfer data at rates up to 115k baud. Unlike PCMCIA cards, Memex Data Shuttles don't need any special plug-in (PC) boards, custom connectors, cables or exotic software to work with your existing equipment. The unit comes in 128k and 256k sizes, and now a full 2 MB of memory is available. The Memex Data Shuttle is approximately the size of a pager (5x2.5x.75 inches). It is completely self contained and operates from a 9 volt replaceable battery or from 24 Volt power on Pin 25 (as most Fanuc CNCs have this external power feature). The MxDS2 can even gain power from its USB port. The Memex Data Shuttle is microprocessor controlled and is user programmable for baud rates, transfer protocols and file types. All data is kept in non-volatile memory, which means your data is retained even if the battery is completely discharged or removed! Lights (vertical LEDs) provide indication of operational status and battery condition.
